SYMPTOMS

When you put your finger on the receiver of the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader to unlock the computer, the computer is not unlocked, and you are not logged onto the computer.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You log off the computer and then switch users.
  • You let the Welcome screen of Windows XP appear, and then you let the computer go into hibernate mode.
  • You awaken the computer from hibernate mode, and then you put your finger on the receiver of the Fingerprint Reader.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, update the computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
