For Xbox Live, power cycling means power cycling your modem or gateway, so that it recognizes that a new device has been connected. In this case, the new device is an Xbox console. To power cycle the Xbox console, follow these steps:
  1. See your manufacturer's instructions for any specific instructions.
  2. Remove the power supply from your device.
  3. Leave the device unplugged for 15 to 30 seconds. This may take longer depending on the manufacturer.
  4. Re-attach the power supply to the modem by following the device manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Wait several minutes for the device to start and to establish a connection with your broadband provider.
  6. Verify that the modem shows the appropriate power and Internet connection indicator lights by following the manufacturer's instructions.
