You cannot view items in the Resource View window in Visual C++ 2005 when the project name contains unicode character U+00CF (908270)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition



SYMPTOMS

In the Resource View window, you cannot view items that belong to Ï.rc when the following conditions are true:
  • You create a new Microsoft Visual C++ Win 32 project, and the project name contains an Ï (U+00CF).
  • The computer regional settings are set to Japanese or Chinese.
Note This problem occurs when you use a unicode character between the ranges of U+00CO to U+00CF and 00DO to U+00DE in the name of a new Visual C++ Win 32 project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use a unicode character between the ranges of U+00CO to U+00CF and 00DO to U+00DE in the name of a Visual C++ Win 32 project.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
