Unexpected lines may appear on a printed page when you use a PCL5c minidriver in Windows Server 2003 or in Windows XP (908112)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a PCL5c minidriver on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows XP, unexpected lines may appear on a printed page. The problem occurs if the print job contains objects that have gradation. The problem is most likely to occur when you print a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation that includes these objects.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the PCL5c minidriver generates the rendering command by using the rendering plug-in module instead of by using the Uni driver.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

How to determine whether a printer is affected by this problem

To determine whether a printer is affected by this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type control printers, and then click OK.
  2. On the File menu, click Server Properties.
  3. Click the Drivers tab, click the driver for the printer in the Installed printer drivers list, and then click Properties.
  4. Locate the HPCCLJ1.DLL file.
If Dependent File appears in the Description column next to the HPCCLJ1.DLL file, the printer is affected by this problem.
