FIX: You may see an intermittent cluster status of unknown in the Application Center snap-in (908010)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario: - You run Microsoft Application Center 2000 on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer.
- You have DCOM port restrictions enabled on an Application Center 2000 cluster.
In this scenario, you may see an intermittent cluster status of unknown in the Application Center snap-in. Microsoft
Windows 2000 Server-based Application Center 2000 clusters are not affected. CAUSEThis problem is caused by changes in the implementation of DCOM port restrictions in Windows Server 2003. These changes cause the Application Center 2000 state query to randomly fail.RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Application Center 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
