Note You can only use the Xbox 360 Media Remote with the Xbox 360 console or with a Microsoft Windows Media Center-based computer. You cannot use the Xbox 360 Media Remote with VCRs, DVRs, DVD players, or other audio equipment.

How to use the Xbox 360 Media Remote

The Xbox 360 Media Remote operates like a typical DVD remote. The remote includes buttons that control the Xbox 360 console and a button that gives you immediate access to a Windows Media Center-based computer.

Controller buttons

The remote control is equipped with the following buttons:
  • Xbox Guide
  • A
  • B
  • X
  • Y
You can use these buttons, together with the OK button, to move through and to control the Xbox Guide and the Xbox Dashboard on the Xbox 360 console. You can use these buttons the same way that you use an Xbox 360 Controller.

Windows Media Center Start button

The Windows Media Center Start button lets you access a Windows Media Center-based computer through the Xbox 360 console. If you configured Windows Media Center to work with the Xbox 360 console, you move to the Media section of the Xbox Dashboard when you press the Windows Media Center Start button. If you have not yet configured Windows Media Center to work with the Xbox 360 console, the Windows Media Center Setup Wizard will start when you press the Windows Media Center Start button.

You can also use the Windows Media Center button to turn on the Xbox 360 console.
