Xbox 360: A disc remains in the disc drive after the disc tray is ejected (907589)

SYMPTOMS

A game disc or other disc is stuck in your Xbox 360 console and cannot be removed.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if a sticky substance is present on the top side of a disc or if the console was moved during use.

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. If the Xbox 360 console is positioned vertically, move it to the horizontal position.
  2. Press the eject button on the console to open the tray. After the tray opens, press the button again to close the tray. Repeat this procedure two more times to see whether this action dislodges the disc so that you can remove it.
  3. If the tray does not open, follow the steps in the following Knowledge Base article:

  4. If you cannot dislodge the disc when you use this method, Microsoft may have to service the console. Contact Xbox Customer Support.
