Xbox 360: The console does not turn on (907588)

SYMPTOMSThis article describes what to do if the Xbox 360 console does not turn on.THINGS TO TRYTo troubleshoot this issue, try the following solutions: - Examine the power indicator light that is located in the center of the Ring Of Light on the Xbox 360 console. If there is no power to the console, the indicator light is off and the fans are off.
- Press the power button. The power button and the power indicator light are located in the center of the Ring of Light on the front of the Xbox 360 console. If the Xbox is functioning correctly, the power should turn on.
- Press the eject button on the console disc drive. If the console turns on but does not start by using the power button, there may be a problem with the power button. Contact Xbox Customer Support for more help.
- If step 1 does not resolve the issue, examine the power cord where it connects to the console and to the power outlet. Disconnect and then reconnect the power cord at each end to make sure that you firmly connect the cord.

- If this does not resolve the problem, see whether the power cord is plugged in to any device other than a typical power outlet. For example, the power cord may be attached to an extension cord. If this is the case, remove this device and then plug the power supply directly in a power outlet.
- If the issue is not a connection issue, examine the light on the Xbox 360 external power supply.
- A green light indicates that the power supply is correctly functioning. If the light is green, ontact Xbox Customer Support for more help.

- If the Xbox 360 still does not turn on, verify that the outlet is working by testing other devices in the same outlet. If no other devices work, the outlet may not be working. Examine your circuit breaker, and then contact a licensed electrician for help.
- If the outlet is working but the Xbox 360 console does not turn on, remove the power supply power cord from the wall and from the Xbox 360 console. Examine the power cord that connects to the Xbox 360 console for damage.
Note To look for damage, visually examine the cord and use your hands to feel for damage. Make sure that the cord is disconnected on both ends before you do this. - Make sure that there is no disc in the disc tray.
