You are not offered any Microsoft Office updates from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or Windows Server Update Services (907380)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office XP or Microsoft Office 2003, you are not offered any Microsoft Office updates. This symptom occurs even though one or both of the following conditions are true:
  • You visit the Microsoft Windows Update Web site.
  • You have access to a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server.
Note If you visit the Office Update Web site, you are offered Microsoft Office updates.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Office XP or Office 2003 installations are installed in per-user mode. The Windows Update Web site and WSUS cannot detect Office installations that are installed in per-user mode.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, visit the following Office Update Web site:

This issue does not occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • You installed Office XP or Office 2003 from the Microsoft Office CD.
  • Office XP or Office 2003 was pre-installed on your computer.
If you are a corporate user, ask the system administrator if Office was installed in per-user mode.
