SYMPTOMSThe Xbox 360 Hard Drive is not listed as a storage device in the Xbox 360 console.CAUSEThis issue may occur when one or both of the following conditions is true: - The hard drive is not correctly attached in the hard drive bay.
- The hard drive is damaged.
THINGS TO TRYIf your hard drive is not listed as a storage device, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure that the hard drive is correctly seated.
- Make sure the hard drive is correctly attached in the hard drive bay.
- Make sure the hard drive appears to be aligned correctly.
- Turn the console off, and then turn the console on again.
- Power cycle the console and reattach the hard drive.
- Turn the console off, and then remove the hard drive.
- Turn the console on, and then turn the console off again.
- Attach the hard drive to the console again.
- Try another console and another hard drive.
- If there is another Xbox 360 console available, try the hard drive with that other console. For example, if your friend has an Xbox 360 console, try to use the hard drive with your friend's console.
- If there is another hard drive available, try to use that hard drive in your console.
Notes- Hard drives that are physically broken, immersed in liquids, or exposed to intense heat may be damaged.
- A damaged hard drive may not appear in the Xbox Dashboard.
- A damaged hard drive could damage your Xbox 360 console.
