Xbox 360: You cannot add Xbox Live to your Xbox 360 gamer profile (906931)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot add Xbox Live to your Xbox 360 gamer profile by using a Windows Live ID account that is already associated with a different gamer profile.

Note Windows Live ID account is the e-mail address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live ID.

CAUSE

You can only use a Windows Live ID account to add Xbox Live to one Xbox 360 gamer profile. You cannot use the same Windows Live ID account to add Xbox Live to a different gamer profile.

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this issue, you must use different Windows Live ID credentials or create a new Windows Live ID account. To create a new Windows Live ID account, follow these steps:
  1. Create a new Windows Live ID account to associate with the Xbox 360 gamer profile.
    1. Visit http://login.live.com, and then click Sign up.
    2. Follow the instructions on the screen to create a Windows Live ID account.
