Xbox 360: When you try to sign up for an Xbox Live account or when you try to migrate an Xbox Live account, you are prompted to enter your Windows Live ID credentials and you must have a parent or guardian complete the process for you (906925)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to sign up for an Xbox Live account or when you try to migrate an Xbox Live account, you must have a parent or guardian complete the process for you. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
You cannot complete account migration until you enter your Windows Live ID credentials.
Note Your Windows Live ID credentials are the e-mail address and the password that you use to sign in to Windows Live ID.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when Xbox Live determines that you are a minor based on the age that you entered for your Windows Live ID account.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. There is no workaround for this behavior. You must enter your Windows Live ID credentials and have a parent complete the process for you if you are a minor.

MORE INFORMATION

When you create a Windows Live ID account, you have to enter your age. After Xbox Live identifies you as a minor, you cannot change the age that is associated with your Xbox Live account. Restarting your Xbox 360 console does not help. If you restart your Xbox 360 console and try to migrate your account again, the process continues to identify you as a minor, and you still must enter Windows Live ID credentials. This situation will continue until you have a parent or a guardian complete the process for you.
