SYMPTOMSWhen you uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 from a computer that has Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed side-by-side, you may experience the following problems: - The Visual Studio icons that are associated with Visual Studio solutions do not appear on the Start Page in Visual Studio 2005.
- Visual Studio 2005 does not start when you click a file that has the .sln file name extension.
Note A side-by-side installation of Visual Studio is a case where you install more than one version of Visual Studio on the same computer. If you install another version of Visual Studio, the existing version is not upgraded. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Vslangproj.tlb and Vslangproj2.tlb files have been updated in Visual Studio 2005. However, these files are removed when you uninstall Visual Studio .NET 2003.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, run the Visual Studio 2005 Setup program to repair Visual Studio 2005.
