A public certificate that is in the service store may appear invalid on Live Communications Server 2005 because of an expired intermediate CA (906595)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Standard Edition
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005, a public certificate that is in the service store may appear invalid because of an expired intermediate certification authority (CA).CAUSEThis issue occurs because the intermediate CA certificate is not updated on the local computer. The local computer will still cache the expired certificate even though the access proxy server has installed an updated intermediate CA. This updated intermediate CA can validate the public CA's certificate chain.RESOLUTIONTo update the intermediate CA certificate on the local computer, you must download the updated certificate from the intermediate CA's distribution point. Then, you must install the intermediate CA certificate on the local computer store in the trusted intermediate CA store.
