INTRODUCTION

In Microsoft Office Live Communication Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you must use a certificate that is issued by a public certification authority (CA) to be able to use the Public Instant Messaging Connectivity (PIC) feature.

The CA must be included in the default list of trusted root certification authorities.

Note If you are using a certificate from a public CA for enhanced federation setting or for another use, this step is not required.
