You may receive an error message when you try to access links on a domain controller if you start the domain controller in DSRestore mode and the domain controller is the Distributed File System root server (906509)

SUMMARYConsider the following scenario: - You start the domain controller in DSRestore mode.
- The domain controller is the Distributed File System (DFS) root server.
- You try to access links on the domain controller.
You may receive the following error message: Access is denied MORE INFORMATIONOnly the Directory Service stops when you start the domain controller in DSRestore mode. You can still access other resources, such as files and remote administration.
You may still have a valid root referral to the domain controller in DSRestore mode. Also, another domain controller may still provide a referral that points to the domain controller in DSRestore mode. However, when you access the DFS root server, you cannot be authenticated because the Directory Service is stopped.
