To play music from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive, you first have to copy music from a music CD to the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. The process of copying digital content from the CD to the hard drive is named "ripping." You can play music from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive by using one of the following methods:

• Play music from the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
  1. Start the Xbox 360 console without a disc in the disc tray.
  2. Use the Xbox 360 Controller or a remote control to move to the Media section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard, and then select Music.
  3. In the Music section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard, select Hard Drive.
  4. In the Hard Drive area, you can play music by categories by selecting from the following options:
     • Albums
     • Artists
     • Playlists
     • Specific Songs
     • Genres
     Note You can also play all the music from the Hard Drive area. To do this, press the Y button on the Xbox 360 controller or remote control.
• Play music from the Xbox Guide.
  1. During gameplay, or from the Xbox 360 Dashboard, you can press the Xbox 360 Guide button on the Xbox 360 Controller or on the remote control.
  2. In the Xbox Guide, select Music, and then select Hard Drive as the Music Source.
  3. In the Hard Drive area, you can play music by categories by selecting from the following options:
     • Albums
     • Artists
     • Playlists
     • Specific Songs
     • Genres
     Note You can play all music from all sources or just from the hard drive if you press the Y button in the Hard Drive area or in the Music Sources area in the Xbox Guide.
