Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
Fixes in the service pack that require that you configure a registry key
When it is appropriate, Microsoft provides fixes that use registry keys. You can use these registry keys to enable, disable, or configure the functionality of a fix. By default, some fixes may be disabled. You may have to configure a registry key to enable a fix.

The date and time information for tracked changes is not removed when you save a documentConsider the following scenario. You use Word 2003 to open a document that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Word. The Word document contains tracked changes. Then, you turn on the
Remove personal information from file properties on save feature and then save the document. When you reopen the document, the date and time information for the tracked changes is not removed.
Some of the changes in a Word document are not accepted when text is pasted from an e-mail messageConsider the following scenario. You turn on the
Mark my comments with feature in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. Additionally, you compose a reply to an e-mail message. Then, you copy the text from the reply message and then paste the text into a new Word document. If you click
Accept All Changes in Document on the
Reviewing toolbar, some of the changes are not accepted.
The startup task pane opens every time that you start WordYou turn off the startup task pane feature in Word 2003. However, when you quit and then restart Word 2003, the startup task pane opens. This problem may occur if the DoNotDismissFileNewTaskPane registry value is set to
1.
The <Body> tags are removed when you delete a blank line above a table that is located in a protected sectionYou insert a table in a protected section of a Word 2003 .xml document. If you try to delete a blank line above the table, the <Body> tags in the protected section are removed.
The AutoOpen macro and the Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System customizations do not run when a document is open in a separate window in Internet ExplorerYou create a Word 2003 document that contains an AutoOpen macro and Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System customizations. If you open the document in a new window in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the AutoOpen macro and the Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System customizations do not run.
You cannot save a document or close Word after you click a hyperlink that links to an open document in Word 2003You modify a Word document that is contained on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site. If you click a hyperlink in Internet Explorer that links to the same Word document that is currently open, the focus shifts to the open Word document. When you try to save the document or close Word, you receive a message that is similar to the following message: Microsoft Office Word

The tracked changes in a Rich Text Format document reappear after you accept the changesConsider the following scenario. You open a Rich Text Format (.rtf) document that contains tracked changes in Word 2003. Additionally, you accept all the changes in the document. Then, you save and close the document. When you reopen the .rtf document, the tracked changes reappear.
You receive the "A table in this document has become corrupted" error message when you open a documentYou use Word 2003 to open a Word document that contains a table. Then, you save and close the document. Several seconds after you reopen the document in Word 2003, you receive the following error message:
A table in this document has become corrupted.
Several characters are selected when you click in a paragraphYou open a Word 2003 document that contains a macro that uses the
XMLSelectionChange event. If you click in a paragraph and then click in a second paragraph, several characters are selected.
You receive an "InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form" error message when you try to create a new formConsider the following scenario. You install Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003. Additionally, you start and then quit the viewer. Then, you install Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003. If you start InfoPath 2003 and then try to create a new form, the form
is not created. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form.
This problem does not occur if you install InfoPath 2003 before you install Word Viewer 2003.
