Charge the battery pack

Charge your Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack before the first use and when it is depleted.

To charge the battery pack using the charge cable

1. Press the tab on the top of the AA battery pack and pull down to detach it from the controller.
2. Insert the rechargeable battery pack into the battery compartment on the controller and push in to lock.

   Note To avoid pinching your fingers when you insert the battery pack, push only on the flat surface of the battery pack.

3. Connect the charge cable to the charge port on the front of the controller.

   Important Do not connect the charge cable without a rechargeable battery pack or AA battery pack installed. This can damage the controller.

4. Connect the charge cable to a controller port.
5. Turn on the Xbox 360 console.

   Note If you try the following steps without turning the console on, the battery pack will not charge.

6. You can now leave the console on or turn it off. In both instances, the light on the charge cable will glow red to indicate the battery is charging. When the light switches to green or off, the battery pack is fully charged.
   
   Note To turn off the console but continue to charge the battery, you must shut down the console through the Dashboard:
   1. While the console is still turned on, press and hold the Guide button.
   2. A menu will appear on the right side of the screen. Release the Guide button.
   3. Select Shut Down Console, and then press the A button. This commands will cause the console to continue charging the rechargeable battery pack while the console in "stand-by" mode.

      Note Pressing the power button on the front of the console or turning off the power source will stop the charging of the battery pack.

Note

• Do not touch the charge cable or battery pack terminals with your fingers or let metal parts touch them. Doing this may damage them.
• Fully charging the battery can take up to six hours using the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit.
• The battery may become warm during charging or during use. This behavior is normal and does not indicate a problem with the battery.
• If the battery is not used for a long time, it may lose its charge. If this problem occurs, recharge the battery normally.
• Very depleted rechargeable battery packs can take up to 20 minutes to charge enough to power a controller for use with the Play & Charge Kit.
• Remove and store the rechargeable battery pack when you do not use the controller for a month or longer.
• At first, or after storage for a long time, it can take from three to five full charge cycles for the battery pack to achieve its capacity.
• The battery has a limited life. The amount of play time will decrease as the battery pack ages or after many recharge cycles. The battery pack has to be replaced when play time becomes too short or when it can no longer be charged.

Play while you charge

You can continue to use your controller to play on your Xbox 360 console while it charges. Your controller continues to use wireless signals for gameplay when it is connected with the charge cable. Do not use the charge cable without either a rechargeable battery pack or AA battery pack installed on your wireless controller.

Clean your battery pack

If you must clean the battery contacts, use only a dry cloth. Water or chemicals can damage the contacts.
