You receive a "Fee Amount cannot be less than the amount that has been recognized" error message when you change a project fee in Microsoft Great Plains (905336)

SYMPTOMS

When you change a fee from a positive amount to a negative amount in Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains Project Accounting, you receive the following error message:

Fee Amount cannot be less than the amount that has been recognized

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem in Microsoft Great Plains 8.0, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Great Plains 8.0. For more information, visit one of the following Web sites, depending on whether you are a partner or a customer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This bug was corrected in Microsoft Great Plains 8.0 Service Pack 3.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

On the Cards menu, point to Project, and then click Project.
In the Project No. list, click ADVCAMP.
Click Fees to open the Fee Entry dialog box.
In the Project and Service Fees area, type BILLING in the Fee ID field. When you press TAB to change the focus from the Fee ID field, you will receive the following message:This Fee ID doesn't exist. Do you want to add it?
Click Add.
In the Fee Maintenance dialog box, type Billing in the Name field.
Type 10000.00 in the Fee Amount field.
Press TAB to change the focus from the Fee ID field, and then click OK.
Click Save, and then close the Fee Maintenance dialog box.
Click Fees to open the Fee Entry dialog box again.
Click in the Fee Amount field for the Billing fee. Type -10000.00 in this field.
Press TAB to change the focus from the Fee Amount field.
