You cannot upgrade to a different language version of Communicator 2005 (904793)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Communicator 2005

SYMPTOMS

You cannot upgrade from one language version of Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 to a different language version of Communicator 2005.

CAUSE

Currently, Communicator 2005 does not support upgrading from one language version to a different language version.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove the current language version of Communicator 2005. Then, install the new language version of Communicator 2005. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. In the Currently installed programs and updates list, click Microsoft Office Communicator 2005.
  3. Click Change/Remove.
  4. Click Remove.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. Install the new language version of Communicator 2005.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
