You cannot create a new provider immediately after you have created a provider in the MOM 2000 Administrator Console (904736)

SYMPTOMSYou cannot create a new provider, for example, a Windows NT Performance Counter provider, in the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000
Administrator Console. Additionally, you receive the following error
message if you try to quit the MOM 2000 Administrator Console: An internal error has occurred. The result code returned was
0x80004005. Please provide this number to technical
support. After you click Details, you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message: The instruction at "0x675affb6" referenced memory
at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate
the program This symptom occurs if the following conditions
are true:
- You try to create a new provider immediately after you have created a provider in the MOM 2000
Administrator Console.
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 and the MOM 2000
Administrator Console are both installed on the same computer.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, do not install Microsoft
Commerce Server 2000 and MOM 2000 Administrator Console on the same
computer.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
