Some files from the previous video card may remain on the system and appear as unsigned after you install a new video card from a different manufacturer in a Windows XP SP2-based computer (904673)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You install a new video card in a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer. This new card is not manufactured by the same company that manufactured the old card. In this scenario, some files from the previous video card may remain on the system. Additionally, when you run the File Signature Verification tool (Sigverif.exe), some files from the previous card may appear in the following list:

The following files have not been digitally signed

Note This list is located in the Signature Verification Results dialog box.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because, under certain circumstances, not all files that are associated with a driver can be deleted from the system when you remove the driver.

MORE INFORMATION

The unsigned files on the system will not be used. You can safely ignore the presence of these files.
