  • Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0

INTRODUCTION

After you install Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Message Queuing is automatically added to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list. This behavior allows for Message Queuing to correctly operate without interruptions.

MORE INFORMATION

If the Windows Firewall is enabled, you can verify that the Message Queuing exception is correctly set up. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Control Panel, open Windows Firewall.
  2. Click the Exceptions tab.
  3. Verify that Message Queuing appears in the Programs and Services list, and then verify that the Message Queuing check box is selected.
  4. In the Programs and Services list, click Message Queuing, and then click Edit. The path of the Mqsvc.exe file should be %WinDir%\system32\.
Note When you install Windows Server 2003, Windows Firewall is not automatically enabled to help protect the computer from security threats and attacks. However, when you install Windows XP SP2, Windows Firewall is automatically enabled.
