SR:SRF05031864161

SYMPTOMS

When you start a computer for the first time after you install Microsoft Windows XP, the Windows XP Mini-Setup Wizard may appear to stop responding for up to 2 minutes. This behavior occurs between the Set Date and Time page and the Network Settings page.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the following additional services are added during the network configuration phase of the Windows XP Mini-Setup Wizard:
  • TCP/IP
  • DHCP
  • DNSCache
  • Netman
  • Lmhosts
  • LanmanWorkstation
By default, the LanmanWorkstation service is the last service to be added during the network configuration phase. This process may take 2 minutes to finish. The Windows XP Mini-Setup Wizard does not continue until the LanmanWorkstation service is successfully added.
