You cannot disable the "Web Browser" tab on a computer that is running Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004 (903940)

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004, you cannot disable the Web Browser tab. The Web Browser tab is located in the Microsoft Firewall Client for ISA Server 2004 dialog box.

Note When you disable the Web Browser tab, users cannot select the Enable Web browser automatic configuration check box. Automatic Web browser configuration enables Web browsers to obtain configuration settings directly from ISA Server.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Hotfix configuration instructions

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. After you apply the hotfix, you must add the UiDisableConfigDialog registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Firewall Client 2004\Policies

    Note If you cannot locate the Policies key, follow these steps to add the key:
    1. Right-click the Firewall Client 2004 key, point to New, and then click Key.
    2. Type Policies, and then press ENTER.
  3. Right-click Policies, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. To name the new entry, type UiDisableConfigDialog, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click UiDisableConfigDialog, and then click Modify.
  6. Under Base, click Decimal.
  7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  8. Quit Registry Editor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004 Service Pack 2.
