SYMPTOMS
Consider
the following scenario. You are running Microsoft
Exchange 2000 Server and Microsoft
Exchange Server version 5.5 in
a mixed environment.
You
apply Microsoft
Exchange 2000 Server version
6.0.6617.70
on the Exchange 2000 Server cluster server.
In this situation, a recipient may
not receive e-mail messages that are from external users
when the following conditions are true:
- The
e-mail messages come
from external users through Exchange Server 5.5 Internet Mail Connector
(IMC).
- The
e-mail message flow uses the X.400 protocol to connect
the Exchange
Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server message transfer agent (MTA).
- The mailbox of the recipient is stored in Exchange 2000
Server.
RESOLUTION
A supported
hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the
problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are
experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that
you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains
this hotfix.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft
