The Tablet PC Input Panel behaves erratically after you enable the Activation follows mouse feature in TweakUI (903270)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSIf you try to open the In-place Input Panel on a Windows XP
Tablet PC Edition 2005-based computer, you experience any one or more of the following
symptoms:
- If you tap the In-place
Input Panel icon, any one or more of the following symptoms occur:
- The Tablet PC In-place Input Panel does not appear.
- The In-place
Input Panel icon repeatedly flashes.
- The Tablet PC In-place Input Panel quickly opens and closes.
- The Tablet PC In-place Input Panel closes when you start to
write in the Writing Pad.
If the Input Panel is docked, the following
symptoms occur:
- If you try to insert handwriting into the location that
has the active pointer focus, your ink disappears from the Input Panel. However, the
text does not appear in the destination location.
- If you try to insert text by tapping the keys on the
keyboard, the text does not appear in the destination location.
CAUSEThis issue can occur if you enable the Activation
follows mouse (X-Mouse) option in the Windows XP PowerToy TweakUI
tool. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Start TweakUI, and then expand
Mouse.
- Click X-Mouse, and then click to clear the
Activation follows mouse (X-Mouse) check box.
- Click Apply, and then click
OK.
- Restart the Tablet PC.
