You receive a "Works Word Processor has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message when you try to open a document in the Works Word Processor program or when you close the Works Word Processor program (902332)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a document in the Microsoft Works Word Processor program, or when you close the Works Word Processor program in one of the Microsoft Works products that are listed in the "Applies to" section, you receive the following error message:
Works Word Processor has encountered a problem and needs to close.
If you click Click Here in the error message, you receive an error signature that contains the following details: 
AppName: wkswp.exe AppVer: AppVer number ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: ModVer number Offset: 00008d2c

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the printer driver for the printer that is installed on the computer is outdated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the most recent printer driver that is provided by the printer manufacturer for the printer. For more information, see the printer documentation.
