Data fields are highlighted in an e-mail message in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM (902092)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Data fields are highlighted in an e-mail message in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM when the following conditions are true:
  • You use the French, Italian, or German version of Microsoft CRM.
  • You use the default e-mail templates.
This issue does not affect the U.S. English version.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, take either of the following actions.

Workaround 1

Delete and then add the data fields in the default e-mail template. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft CRM, click Home, click Settings, click Template Manager, and then click E-Mail Templates.
  2. Double-click the e-mail template that you want to change.
  3. Click to highlight the data field that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
  4. Click Save and Close.

Workaround 2

Create a custom e-mail template. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft CRM, click Home, click Settings, click Template Manager, and then click E-Mail Templates.
  2. Click New E-mail Template.
  3. In the Template Type list, click the template type that you want to create, and then click OK.
  4. Add data to all required fields.
  5. To add data fields to the template, click Insert/Update, and then click Add.
  6. In the Record Type list, click the type of record that you want to create.
  7. In the Field list, click the field that you want to add to the template, and then click OK two times.
  8. Click Save and Close.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

The steps that are listed here apply only to the French, Italian, or German version of Microsoft CRM.
  1. Open Microsoft CRM by using a System Administrator user account.
  2. Click Sales, and then click Contacts.
  3. Click a contact record that has a valid e-mail address.
  4. On the Actions menu, click Send Direct E-mail.
  5. Click to highlight the default contact template.
  6. In the Send direct e-mail to section of the Web page that opens, click Selected items on this page.
  7. Click Send.
When the recipient receives the e-mail message, the recipient name and the sender name are highlighted in yellow.
