You may receive a "Stop 0x0000000A" error message when you shut down or restart a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 (902069)

SYMPTOMSWhen you shut down or restart a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you may receive the following Stop error message: *** Stop 0x0000000A (parameter 1, parameter 2, parameter 3, parameter 4)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL In this error message: - Parameter 1 represents the referenced memory location.
- Parameter 2 represents the IRQL.
- Parameter 3 represents a read operation or a write operation.
A read operation has a value of 0. A write operation has a value of 1. - Parameter 4 represents the address from which the memory location was referenced.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile local security policy setting is enabled.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, disable the Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile local security policy setting. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
- In the Group Policy Object Editor dialog box, expand Computer Configuration, expand Windows Settings, expand Security Settings, expand Local Policies, and then click Security Options.
- In the right pane, double-click Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile.
- In the Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile Properties dialog box that appears, click Disabled, and then click OK.
- Quit the Group Policy Object Editor.
