SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, when you run a Direct Mailer service against a local SMTP server by using sockets, you may experience multiple 0x800CCC13 errors.
Note A 0x800CCC13 error means that the server response was not available.CAUSEThis problem occurs because of a synchronization issue between the SMTP client and the SMTP server. You experience this problem only when the SMTP client and the SMTP server are located on the same computer. The SMPT client is the Direct Mailer service.
A marketing campaign may cause the Direct Mailer service to try to send many messages at the same time. Depending on the configuration, the Direct Mailer service will use multiple concurrent sockets.
You may experience an error on the server side when no more free sockets are available. Then, you may experience multiple 0x800CCC13 errors on the client side.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, we recommend that you use direct drop directories to send messages to a local SMTP server. You can specify drop directories when you configure the Direct Mailer service.
