  • Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, when used with:
    • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Windows SE:162305

SYMPTOMS

When you use a multifunction, composite USB device that includes a network interface, the network interface does not work in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The device uses the Windows XP inbox driver for the Remote Network Device Interface Specification (RNDIS).
  • The device uses the Interface Association Descriptor (IAD) to describe which interfaces belong to the adaptor.
The problem occurs because the Usbccgp.sys driver does not configure all interfaces that are defined in the IAD when the driver handles a URB_FUNCTION_SELECT_CONFIGURATION request. The driver configures only the first interface and does not return valid pipe handles for the remaining interfaces.
