SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- Your Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 organization contains a server that is running Novell GroupWise.
- The GroupWise server uses Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) codepage 437.
- You send an e-mail message from the GroupWise server. The Subject box of the e-mail message contains a character that has an umlaut. For example, the Subject box contains the word "Öffnen".
In this scenario, when the recipient receives the e-mail message, the character that has the umlaut appears as jumbled code.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the following hotfix on the Exchange server on which the
Connector for Novell GroupWise is running.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
