The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

When a redirect rule that is on a recipient's mailbox redirects an e-mail message, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 may incorrectly generate a non-delivery report (NDR) message. This behavior occurs even though the redirected e-mail message is received by the recipient. Therefore, the sender does not know that the redirected e-mail message was delivered to the intended recipient.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the mailbox of the recipient has exceeded the maximum size limit.
