SYMPTOMS

Assume a situation where you are working with a Microsoft Office 2003 document that contains an ActiveX control. The Active X control updates the data that is in the control.

In this situation, the Private Bytes counter in Performance Monitor may continually increase. Additionally, if you close the Office 2003 document, the resources are not released.

CAUSE

This problem may occur because the Mso.dll file creates EMF files when the data is updated in the ActiveX control. Therefore, the path of each EMF file that displays the ActiveX control changes. These changes cause an increase in resource usage.
