SUMMARY
When you create a Microsoft Access report based on a nonkeyed Paradox
table, or when you attempt to run a Microsoft Access query with the table
added twice, you may receive the following error message:
Operation not supported on Paradox table with no primary key.
MORE INFORMATION
If you link (attach) a Paradox version 3.0 or 3.5 table, it is best to
have a key field defined in the table. Paradox creates an index (.PX) file
that should always be in the same folder (directory) as the table (.DB)
file. Important information is stored in the .PX file. Linking nonkeyed
Paradox tables limits the report and query capabilities of Microsoft
Access.
Query Limitation
You can create a non-updatable query based on a nonkeyed Paradox table.
However, you can add the table to the query only one time. If you add the
table twice, you will receive the error message mentioned earlier when you
run the query.
Report Limitation
You cannot use or design a Microsoft Access report based on a query to
which a nonkeyed Paradox table has been added twice.
When you create a new report and select the query to base the report on,
you will receive the error message mentioned earlier. Choose the OK button
to close the error dialog box and view the report in Design view. If you
look at the Field List for the report, you will not see any fields listed.
The above limitations occur because linked, nonkeyed Paradox tables can
only be opened once in Microsoft Access. Use of the table in both of
these scenarios requires the table to be opened more than once in order
to perform the specific Microsoft Access task.
Paradox is manufactured by Borland International, Inc., a vendor
independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise,
regarding this product's performance or reliability.
