The Live Communications Server 2005 console unexpectedly quits when the administrator clicks the Users node under the "Live Communications Server 2003" node (898894)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 console unexpectedly quits when the administrator clicks the Users node under the Live Communications Server 2003 node.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 Administration Tools is installed on a computer that already has Microsoft Live Communications Server 2003 Administration Tools installed.

The Live Communications Server 2003 Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider does not load correctly when the Live Communications Server 2005 Administration Tool is installed. This problem does not occur if the WMI provider loads correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, restart the WMI provider. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc /s in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. In the Service window, right-click Windows Management Instrumentation.
  3. Click Restart.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
