You receive an error message when you send an e-mail message or apply a manual workflow rule in Microsoft CRM 1.2 (898654)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Customer Service
  • Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Sales, when used with:
    • Microsoft CRM 1.2
  • Microsoft CRM 1.2

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, you do one of the following actions in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM:
  • You click Actions and then you click Send Direct E-mail to send an e-mail message.
  • You click Actions and then you click Apply Rule to apply a manual workflow rule.

When you do one of these actions, you receive the following error message:
You do not have sufficient access rights or privileges to perform this action.

Note You do not receive this error message when you are logged on to Microsoft CRM as the system administrator user. This user is the user account that you used to install Microsoft CRM.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Steps to reproduce the problem when you click Send Direct E-mail

  1. Install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 on the Microsoft CRM server.
  2. Start Microsoft CRM.
  3. Click Sales, click Leads, and then click to highlight a lead record.
  4. On the menu bar, click Actions, and then click Send Direct E-mail.
  5. Leave the default options, and then click Send.

Steps to reproduce the problem when you apply a manual workflow rule

Note To reproduce the problem by following these steps, you must create a manual workflow rule for the Case object.
  1. Install Windows Server 2003 service pack 1 on the Microsoft CRM server.
  2. Open Microsoft CRM.
  3. Click Service, click Cases, and then click to highlight an existing case record.
  4. On the menu bar, click Actions, and then click Apply Rule.
  5. Click to highlight the workflow rule, and then click OK.
