You cannot successfully publish or export customizations by using the Deployment Manager tool in Microsoft CRM 1.2 (898566)

SYMPTOMS

You may experience one or both of the following problems when you run the Microsoft CRM 1.2 Deployment Manager tool:
  • When you try to publish customizations, the Locate IIS Web Servers dialog box opens after you click Add in the Publish to Web Servers dialog box. However, a Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Web server cannot be located.
  • When you try to export customizations, the Exporting dialog box opens. Although the dialog box stays open, you never receive the "Export completed successfully" message that you expect. However, an .xml file is created in the location that you specified in the Export Customization dialog box.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta release installed on the computer that is running Microsoft CRM 1.2.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
