A master project may take longer than expected to close in Project Professional 2003 (898448)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Project Server 2003
  • Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you close a master project in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, the master project may take longer than expected to close.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You connect to Microsoft Project Server and open the master project with the Load summary resource assignments option enabled.
  • You use the Read-only to view option to insert the project.
  • You expand the inserted project tasks while the master project is open.

    Note This issue will occur even if you collapse all the inserted project tasks before you close the master project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, click to clear the Load summary resource assignments check box in the Project Server Accounts dialog box when you connect to the Project Server account.
