SYMPTOMS
On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, when you update the driver of a universal serial bus (USB) device, one or more USB devices stop working. These devices may include a keyboard, a mouse, or both.
This problem occurs when you update the driver by using Device Manager or an installer program, such as a chipset installer.CAUSE
This problem may occur when a race condition exists between a USB 1.1 controller and a USB 2.0 controller.WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods: - Disconnect and then reconnect the device that has stopped working.
- Restart the computer.
