When you try to play a .mpg or a .mpeg file in a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 presentation, the video does not play. Additionally, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install a new copy of the MPEG codec to your computer.

After you update the MPEG codec on your computer, you can use the Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility to determine whether an MPEG-2 video decoder (also called a DVD decoder) is installed on your Microsoft Windows XP computer.
