You cannot move scheduled recordings by using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP Media Center Edition (897095)

SYMPTOMSYou cannot use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to
move scheduled recordings from one Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition-based
computer to another Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Recordings.xml file is not listed in the
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard configuration file (Migsys.inf). The Files and Settings Transfer Wizard configuration file lists the information that will be migrated by the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
Note Scheduled recordings are
stored in the drive letter:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\eHome\Recording\Recordings.xml file. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, follow these steps: - On the computer that has the scheduled recordings that you want to move, click Start, and then click My
Computer.
- On the
Tools menu, click Folder Options.
- Click the View tab, and then click Show hidden files and
folders.
- Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file
types check box.
- Click to clear the Hide protected Operating System
Files (Recommended) check box, and then click Yes.
- Click Apply, and then click
OK.
- Click Start, click Run,
type drive letter:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\eHome\Recording in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Copy the following two files to a floppy disk or to another type of removable media:
- Recordings.xml
- Recordings.xml.bak
- Copy the following two files to the drive letter:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\eHome\Recording folder on the new
Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer:
- Recordings.xml
- Recordings.xml.bak
- Restart the computer.
