INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to use security update KB886179 or the new, updated version of Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer to replace the older, unsafe version of the GDIplus.dll file on your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer. When you install the new and updated version of Windows Journal Viewer, a new and updated version of the GDIplus.dll file is installed on your computer.

If you have installed an earlier version of Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 on your Windows 2000-based computer, an older, unsafe version of the GDIplus.dll file is stored in the Ink folder.

Note The version number of this file is 5.1.3102.1316.

Note The location of the Ink folder is Drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared.

To replace the older, unsafe version of the GDIplus.dll file with the latest version, install security update KB886179 or install the new, updated version of Windows Journal Viewer.
