Error message after you apply a WMI filter to a Group Policy object on a Windows XP-based computer (895245)

SYMPTOMS

You apply a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) filter to a Group Policy object (GPO) in a domain. The name of the domain contains a single letter. After you apply the filter, you may receive the following error message on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer:
USERENV(2d4.7e4) 13:11:54:859 ProcessGPO: CheckFilterAcess failed for <cn={9207652B-1518-4B67-8F53-4C9E9C77F7BE},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=m,DC=loginternet,DC=de>. Filter not found

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
