Part 3: Integrating Service Pack 2 in the Setup files

After you have copied the Windows CD, you can integrate Service Pack 2. To do this, merge all the files from the original CD with the files from Service Pack 2.

Integrating SP2 from the Service Pack 2 CD

If you have the Service Pack 2 CD, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the CD in your CD or DVD drive. In this guide we use drive E. If the CD starts automatically, click Close, and then click Yes to confirm.

  2. Click Start, click Run, type SP2 CD path:\XPSP2.EXE /integrate:copied Windows CD path, and then click OK.

    For example, click Start, click Run, type E:\XPSP2.EXE /integrate:D:\XPCD, and then click OK.

    Note Make sure that there is a space after "XPSP2.EXE."

  3. The Xpsp2.exe file is initially extracted to a temporary directory.

    Integration starts automatically.

  4. When a message confirms that the action is complete, click OK.

  5. Your Xpcd folder should now contain the Win51ic.SP2 file. If it does, SP2 has been successfully integrated.

Integrating Service Pack 2 from the network installation packet

If you downloaded the network installation package, follow these steps:
  1. Save the Windowsxp-kb835935-sp2-enu.exe file to the same drive as the Xpcd folder.

  2. Rename the Windowsxp-kb835935-sp2-enu.exe file as Xpsp2.exe. To do this, right-click the file, click Rename, type the new name, and then press ENTER.

  3. Click Start, click Run, type D:\XPSP2.EXE /integrate:D:\XPCD, and then click OK.
