The quality of some pictures may be poor or jagged when you play back a Plus! Photo Story 2 story that was burned to a VCD (894738)

SYMPTOMS

When you play back a Microsoft Plus! Photo Story 2 story that was burned to a Video CD (VCD), the quality of some pictures may be poor or jagged. This issue is most noticeable when you play back the story VCD on your television.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the photo story uses the High quality setting for Video quality when the story is played back on a television. However, you may experience this issue when you use the Medium quality setting.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use the custom encoding PhotoStoryProfile_800x600.prx profile. To download the PhotoStoryProfile_800x600.prx profile, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Note This workaround only reduces the occurrence of poor picture quality when a story is played back.

To use this profile on the story, follow these steps:
  1. Start Plus! Photo Story 2.
  2. Click Edit a Photo Story project.
  3. Click Next four times until the "Select quality settings for your story" page appears.
  4. Click Advance.
  5. Click to select the Use custom encoding profile check box.
  6. Click Browse, locate the PhotoStoryProfile_800x600.prx profile, and then click Open.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Next to save your story and project files.
If you want to create a new VCD for your story, click Create a Video CD of Your Story, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to burn your story to a VCD. Otherwise, click Exit.
