SYMPTOMS

When you try to use one of the programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, you may receive the following error message:
Catalog database has become corrupted, please reinstall the application.

RESOLUTION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To resolve this issue, determine whether the customer is running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). If the customer is running Windows XP SP1, download and then install MDAC 2.8. After you install MDAC 2.7, follow these steps.

Note If the customer is running Microsoft Windows Service Pack 2, you do not have to install MDAC 2.8 before you follow these steps.
  1. Remove Digital Image Suite 2006 from Add/Remove Programs.
  2. In Program files, delete the Microsoft Digital Image folder.
  3. Run Digital Image cleanup.exe from the CD. You can find the CD in the following location:

    DRIVE:\DIG2006\PIP\PSS\Cleanup.exe

  4. Download and then install the Microsoft Windows Clean up utility. To do this, visit the Microsoft Web site. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  5. Run the Windows Installer Clean Up utility, and then remove all the files that are related to Microsoft Digital Image.
  6. Search for and then delete the following registry keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Picture It!

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Picture It!
