"Auto-Alignment Failed" error message when you use the Panoramic Stitching feature in Digital Image (894715)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Panoramic Stitching feature in Microsoft Digital Image, you may receive the following error message:
Auto-Alignment Failed
There is no detectable area of overlap between any of the images. Please see help.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you have not selected a series of images of the same thing.

RESOLUTION

Make sure that all the pictures that you select belong to the same panorama series.
